Challenge:

Siobhan is a passionate advocate of the zero-waste movement, dedicated to sourcing humane, natural ingredients that prioritize health, beauty, and global responsibility. But how can a small, local, holistic brand like Siobhan’s stand out and compete with major beauty brands while staying true to its wellness-driven values?

The Solution

We crafted a website experience that captures the essence of Siobhan’s brand by blending engaging interactions with captivating visuals. By using a distinctive tone and voice, the site evokes a sense of desire—making users almost "hungry" for the products, which, thanks to their pure, natural ingredients, are practically good enough to eat.

Homepage

The goal was to create an entry point that showcased the lush, high-quality ingredients while staying true to the brand’s pure, natural philosophy.

The challenge lay in balancing this authenticity with the desires of cosmetics buyers. To achieve this, I art-directed and crafted imagery that speaks to both.

The result? Striking visuals with bold, vibrant colors that draw users in and spark curiosity, perfectly setting the tone for the site’s content.

Product Pages

When entering a product page, it was crucial to maintain the visual richness while providing deeper insights into the product itself.

To achieve this, I designed a custom interaction that elevates the user experience. As you hover over a product image, a larger detail view expands, showcasing the item’s signature features in vivid detail, allowing users to explore the product’s uniqueness in an engaging and immersive way.

Detail Page

In addition to the expanded image, a detailed list of ingredients for each item appears. This feature allows buyers to connect with the "unique recipe" of every product.

The expanded ingredient list not only piques user curiosity but also supports those with allergies or sensitivities, offering transparency and peace of mind. From this point, featured items can be seamlessly added to the cart, creating an intuitive and engaging shopping experience.

About Page

The About Page, accessible through the "LEARN MORE" button on each product page, beautifully communicates Siobhan’s philanthropic mission.

To emotionally engage the consumer, I crafted a tone that feels lush, self-loving, and empowering. It not only highlights the brand's core values but also instills a sense of pride in the buyer, knowing that a portion of their purchase contributes to a healthier planet. This approach deepens the connection between the consumer and the brand, making every purchase feel impactful and meaningful.

Success Metrics

Siobhan was extremely happy with the ingredients being the Star, and how they were emphasized and highlighted through the visceral quality of the imagery.

The slogan “Make-up good enough to eat” resonates with the brand and her vision for her products, and helped clarify “tone and voice” moving forward.

These designs were a departure from the current marketing's more grassroots feel. Since instigating the current designs, sales have increased by 30% in the first two months, and Siobhan was able to increase her price point to a higher margin.

Further development would include the integration of Siobhan’s zero-waste workshops. Currently on hold due to COVID-19, a future measure of success would be an increase in workshop enrollment from an increased client base.
